12:00 PM – got to mother’s / helped mother
1:00 PM – worked on my day / listened to Johan Sebastian Bach (“The Goldberg Variations”, and “The Well-Tempered Clavier” the first piece ever written for a multi-octave keyboard that didn’t have to be re-tuned for every piece)
8:00 PM – went home / statements
8:40 PM – worked on “My Day” / watched “Story of O” / listened to Slayer (“Reign in Blood”)
12:00 AM – went promoting at Supermarket
3:30 AM – got back / ate (fried rice) / worked on “My Day” / listened to Boogie Down Productions (“Criminal Minded”)
5:54 AM – watched “The Barbarians” on History Channel (The Mongol Empire, Timor The Lame, who used to cut of the heads of everyone killed in the battlefield)
5:56 AM – planning / watched Mr Dressup (I have his autograph, and I saw his smashed-up car on Yonge St. right when he died in a crash. He was so sweet.) / watched Zooboomafu

1:15 PM – talked with John Kong re: I got booted out of Supermarket last night by a really nasty bouncer
1:49 PM – got ready to go / listened to Black Rebel Motorcycle Gang (“Take Them On On Your Own”) / listened to Nomeansno (“Wrong”)
2:00 PM – went to Maggie’s / had brunch (sunny side up eggs, garlic fries, coffee)
3:50 PM – got back / talked with Louise Lilliefeldt / talked with Scott McGovern re: hoisting me up from the rafters at the Drake for my human piñata performance piece
3:57 PM – took apart television set to see if I could just get the monitor outside the casing, but there were too many components (how does Bill Viola do it?) / read about puffer fish and flying fish in “Wild Life Fact File”
5:16 PM – went to look for candies for human piñata performance piece / called Beth MacEachen / went to store, bought toilet paper, cue cards / Louise called. She said her piece is for the “Edible Women” show will be called “Eating Acconci”
6:19 PM – got back / put time in phone / watched “Peanuts Valentine Special”
6:28 PM – talked with Cecilia, and her piece for “Edible Women” is almost finished
6:55 PM – talked with Robyn / watched “Oblivious, the game show you don’t even know you’re on” / watched WWF (Muhammad Hassan, The Iron Sheik’s “Camel Clutch”, Andre The Giant pummeled Big John Stud)
7:18 PM – called Theo / called Simon Casanova re: “Beyond Our Roots Festival”
8:00 PM – read “The Iliad”
10:05 PM – worked on “My Day”

1:40 PM – went to Drake Hotel / prayer
2:10 PM – got to Drake Hotel / said hi to Bill Simpson and Kate / met Scott McGovern / went over logistics for being hung from the ceiling in my piñata costume / Scott got a harness for me to get hoisted / Meleny Melody (who is the voice of the Girl “Care Bear”) introduced me to Carole Pope, (they were having lunch) / talked with Ian the bartender about Link Comfort, who invented those spiky black rubber bags from the nineties / talked about parties at Dufferin Hotel in Vancouver and crack ho strippers / talked with Scott about how he is in the Zero Gravity Circus, and how they just bought the theatre in Little India / talked with Ian about the governor general and her show on CBC’s W5 / talked about Barbar Frum and how great she was / tested harness and it works
3:50 PM – went to my “artist in residence” room / prayer / listened to “United States of Punk”
4:09 PM – worked on finances

4:25 PM – went home
4:48 PM – got coffee / realized I forgot my phone / went back to Drake
5:10 PM – went to art store / got tempera paints to make piñata costume
5:35 PM – got back / planning
5:58 PM – went to Buddha’s Vegetarian / talked with Robyn
6:32 PM – dinner at Buddha’s (vegetable noodles, spring roll ) / made care-giving schedule / read “Think and Grow Rich”
7:15 PM – went to hardware store
7:40 PM – got home / changed / packed materials for human piñata performance piece / listened to Kyuss (“Blues for The Red Sun”)

9:08 PM – went to Drake Hotel
9:35 PM – got to Drake / built piñata costume / watched South Park

10:00 AM – worked on piñata costume / listened to Grotus (“Slow Motion Apocalypse”) / listened to Pantera (“Reinventing The Steel”) / listened to Shannon (“Let The Music Play”)
3:00 PM – went to get blood
3:35 PM – got back / worked on piñata costume / listened to Sleep (“Dopesmoker”) / thought about how London Records wouldn’t let sleep put out their album “Jerusalem” because it contained a song that clocks in just under 64 minutes and is chock-full of Biblical references for why it’s good to smoke dope, so the band broke up / painted piñata costume
9:00 PM – called Robyn
9:30 PM – went downstairs / drank Martinis / said “hi” to Jeff Stober
10:00 PM – put on piñata costume / Aaron, Jennifer, Daniel and Dana helped me go downstairs / Daniel said that he was going to hit me really hard, and I said that’d be great
10:30 PM – did performance / got hit pretty hard, particularly on the testicles / had a cute helmet with feathers, Aztec-style / people were hitting me pretty hard / candies and blood came crashing down / had bottles of ketchup duct taped to the costume, and they didn’t even open until they hit the ground and splattered everything
11:05 PM – performance over / went back to my room / showered / my testicles hurt pretty bad
11:50 PM – went back downstairs / talked with Daniel
1:00 AM – went back upstairs / watched “The Man Who Knew Too Much”
3:00 AM – sleep

7:00 PM – took cab to Untitled Art Awards
7:30 PM – got to Untitled Art Awards at Steam Whistle brewery (I was nominated for the Emerging Curator award) / talked with Kineko and Caroline / a guy from Toronto Life came over and took our picture / had a good talk with Judith from The Drake / said hi to Bill Huffman / said hi to Jeff Stober and Andrew Harwood / didn’t want to go inside the auditorium, so I watched on the video monitor in the bar/ the MC was a performance artist from Vancouver, when people won they would be lifted onto the stage on forklifts / I told everyone at the bar that if I won I’d take them all out for lobster, and when I didn’t win I said “when I win next year, we’re all gonna go for lobster”
12:00 AM – got a ride to the Drake with Kineko and his friend who is a big art collector / talked about Ron Jeremy’s joke, that his dick is only three inches……from the floor
12:20 AM – got to Drake / hung out
2:00 AM – went home
2:34 AM – got home / read the Torah

3:13 PM – worked on piñata costume / listened to Next Evidence “Thrills” / got more boxes / listened to Queens of The Stone Age (“R”) / read The Art of War (“To win by remarkable means is not remarkable”) / wrote down ideas for performances
6:20 PM – painted piñata costume / listened to John Spencer Blues Explosion (“Experimental Remixes”) / listened to Public Enemy (“Greatest Misses”)
7:45 PM – made small piñata
8:13 PM – showered
8:40 PM – got dressed / went to get materials for blood / called Robyn
9:30 PM – watched South Park
10:00 PM – rigged piñata / listened to Black Sabbath (“Heaven and Hell” – Dio invented the “devil horn” salute) / went downstairs, had a martini and got really tipsy / went back upstairs / Daniel told me I could use the pillows from the room, so I wrapped them around myself to cushion the blows
10:30 PM – went downstairs / it was a media party. Tania Natscheff and Hannah Sung were there, and some other people from Much Music, and Tania’s friend said that she loves piñatas and could she hit me really hard, and I told her to go crazy
10:45 PM – did performance / the idea was that I would dangle from the ceiling and I would ask the audience piñata-related questions, and every time an audience member got a wrong answer, they could hit me with a big aluminum stick, but as soon as the thing began, everything went out the window. People just beat the crap out of me and ketchup splattered everywhere / at the end, I sang Roy Orbison’s “Crying” in Spanish, and Istvan Kantor dangled himself from my legs, and it totally killed my groin
11:00 PM – performance over / went upstairs / showered
12:00 AM – went back downstairs / hung out with Daniel
2:00 AM – went home / prayer
2:45 AM – got home / watched “Patton” / watched “Spartacus” / worked on “My Day”

3:45 PM – got to Zsa Zsa / Jason and Martin were putting tin foil all over the gallery / set up monitor and DVD player / helped to put up tin foil in gallery / made a bunch of tin foil balls / covered monitor in tin foil / the place looked like a strange David Lynch world
5:30 PM – went home
6:06 PM – got home / shaved / watched DVD (pretty gruesome) / got flyers ready / listened to Queens of The Stone Age (“Songs for The Deaf”)
6:29 PM – went back to Zsa Zsa
7:00 PM – opening of our show “Bone Machine” / Andrew Harwood saw my video, and told me that he couldn’t show it past 6 PM / talked with Lito, Isley and Andrew
10:30 PM – went over to Sweaty Betties for drinks
11:00 PM – went home
11:47 PM – got home / ate (pasta) / watched South Park
12:36 AM – listened to “Effortless Mastery”

6:18 PM – got to AGO (felt really burned out)

6:35 PM – went to Drake / went to store, bought spaghetti / talked with Dana Takeda and Ken Ogawa about the wilderness, getting lost in the bush, a guy who got his finger bitten off by a tiger and made his finger grow back / Bill Simpson, the general manager at the Drake told me that they were weary of me using bodily fluids in the piece, since it was scheduled for the dining room, and I assured him that there would be no blood or other fluids used.
9:45 PM – got ready to do piece / mother called me, crying
10:00 PM – did the piece, and people freaked out / lots of fake blood and guts / I came out wearing my Alfred Hitchcock mask, talking about how there is an alien virus from outer space that’s “corrupting our youth” / stabbed myself with a big butcher knife, it was very funny / played “Nightclubbing” by Iggy Pop
on a heavily distorted bass
10:30 PM – got cleaned up back in the room
11:45 PM – went back downstairs / hang out with Kineko / talked about painting
2:10 AM - Kineko came upstairs to my room, saw my new paintings, and gave me a show in the upcoming group exhibition in his gallery, Greener Pastures
2:30 AM – two guys asked us to nurse their drinks, and we drank them
2:50 AM – walked home
3:05 AM – got stewed chicken at Albert’s Jamaican Foods on Queen
3:25 AM – got home / changed / ate / watched “Scary Movie 3”

2:40 PM – got to Greener Pastures / said hi to Kineko / went to the Vietnamese restaurant across the street / the restaurant had great décor. It had a Brassai photograph of a car, and tiny lights where shining through the print where the street lights are supposed to be. There was a giant bamboo forest photomural, and the coolest thing is that the guy who owned the restaurant had the contents of his drug cabinet, deodorants and pills and such, right by the till, next to the food / Kineko got some soup
3:00 PM – went back to gallery / met Robert from Kitchener / helped Kineko take down Sandra Bernhardt vinyl lettering / Isley Rojas dropped by with an Aloe Vera plant
4:00 PM – went back to Drake / brought back painting for Kineko
4:30 PM – went back to Greener Pastures / met Sean, who’d just bought one of the paintings from the show (actually a drawing. Sean’s opening a gallery in Florida) / when I hung the painting, Kineko told me “You get away with murder”, and I loved it!
4:45 PM – went back to Drake / met with Jessica Rose and Jeff Stober re: Rigging me in the “Human Pinata” costume from the rafters for my next performance at the Drake / Jeff was wearing a really nice sports jacket and an Andy Warhol T shirt
4:57 PM – went to A Space
5:05 PM – got to A Space / talked with Amelia / talked with Pamela Edmonds about the piece by Lucie Chan in her office, which is a narrative drawing about her fro, and how her friends cut her up, and how Pam used to be punk rock and loved the Dead Kennedy’s, and she’s black, so she caught flak over that too / talked with Andrew B. and he’s still working for Frank Stella / talked with Pam about growing up in Halifax, P.E., Flavor Flav, Spike Lee, Bad Brains, Black Flag, Fishbone, and Snoop Dogg vs. Ice Cube / ran into Bob, and he’s still running 401 Richmond / talked with Sasha / checked messages / called Robyn
6:26 PM – went to mother’s
6:40 PM – got to mother’s / talked with Robyn about her day / went shopping for mother / said hi to my aunt / called Jennifer Matotek re: show / called Louise Lilliefeldt re: show / had dinner with family / watched biography of Alicia Keys, and she’s so great and talented
